This is actually my second attempt at shading this picture. I originally used a simplified version that sombody else had flat-colored for me, but the results were somewhat disappointing. I then tried again using the original sketch that Bubba91 drew and I adjusted the colors to fit the sketch. I also tried a new approach to mood-lighting in this one. I wanted to give the scene a “colder” mood, so I used a “curves” adjustment layer to selectively shift the color channels and boost the cool colors in the highlights and boost warmer colors in the shadows. I’m not quite sure it worked that well.
